The ministry of The Bridge began in 1990 and I am just as excited about the vision and the programs, as I was the day we started! I have the joy and privilege to welcome and witness the happiness of many, many youth as they arrive month after month and engage whole-heartedly in the activities. I also hear their stories and often my heart is broken as some share about the chaos and brokenness in their families and relationships. Many children and youth have told me the Bridge is their getaway, their sanctuary, their place to escape from the harsh realities of life.
A key to our success is our volunteer staff who faithfully serve year after year. Their tireless dedication to building relationships has been the most important aspect of the ministry. A network of volunteers is also available to offer emotional and spiritual encouragement for the parents of the youth. The Bridge has served a vital role for many youth free of charge because of the generosity of our local community of churches, civic groups, businesses and individuals. We look forward to continually expanding our services so that the youth of Ephrata can continue to enjoy the center year after year . Bruce Fasnacht, Executive Director |
What We Do |
Each evening many youth come to enjoy basketball, kickball, and dodge ball in the gym or to play foosball, board games in the recreation room. Each evening we also serve hot, nutritious meals prepared by volunteers.
Our programs, designed for different age groups, also include a share time during which students enjoy discussing many important issues regarding faith, life and stories from the Bible. All this is done with our biggest asset, our caring, positive volunteers, who want to give back into our community by providing a loving, safe and accepting place for all youth. |
